Do you often give up your dreams feeling really bad about yourself after being criticised? If yes, perhaps you are not the only person in this world who have experienced this worst feeling, just because of one single comment which can even make you feel down. The person being criticised, probably could be a young guy who is struggling hard to start up his own venture or a talented girl, who strive to fit into what she thinks she is not supposed to be, because she was told that ‘A girl cannot do it’ or a single parent for his/her inability to maintain stable interpersonal relationships or can even be a cute little girl for her plumpy nature. It can happen anywhere, anytime, with anyone.
You may even spend sleepless nights just thinking about the critical comments you have got. But have you ever realised that you are wasting your precious time doing so!
Criticism might not be agreeable, but it is necessary for your growth. It helps you expand your thoughts if you take it positively as an open challenge. We always tend to conclude that it is destructive, but fail to realise that it is always constructive in its own ways if you consider that the critic is helping you in your progress, which can actually drive you to think about different perspectives and new ideas which you might not have considered before. It’s not the critic’s words that hurt you, but the way you process those words in your mind. It’s all about how effectively you handle it. Let it not grab your thoughts or stop you from chasing your dreams. As Walter Bagehot said; “The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.”
That’s why, it’s your cup of dreams. Keep your dreams alive. Just realise that you are the pilot of your life and it’s only you, who can map the route of your journey and bring all your dreams to reality. Ultimately life is only once and live it with utmost happiness.
